School. Either you love it or you hate it. But the biggest problem is not the school itself, but the motivation and the way some teachers work. I am myself currently attending elementary school and the pressure is very high because of high school enrolment, grades and getting into a good school. I just can’t believe that if I wanted to pick a good school I need to have straight A’s. Who in hell has straight A’s in their life? Everyone always says that you learn in elementary school for the rest of your life. While this is true, we all see that the wrong way. We learn for our lives and ourselves and not for some grade that don’t mean anything. Grades should not be a scale of your knowledge and what is worse is the grading system for high schools. I personally have an average score of 4.70 and I cannot pick a school that I want. I can go to a school that literally spells DOOM for the rest of my life. And what do our dear high schools do? Every year the raise the score required even higher so that „scum“ cannot get into their „good“ educational institutions.
So I ask myself: ,,What are we supposed to do.“ Technically, we as children can’t do anything. We can sit our butts on a chair and study useless things in fatss and oils in chemistry, plant structure in biology etc. What about money? When will I learn how that works or how does this thing which motivates the world function. Did I ever learn how to revive a person if he falls unconscious? No!
My solution is to change the goddamn subjects in schools! Teach us something useful. Teach me something I can use in my day-to-day life and the rest can be taught in schools that specialise in specific subjects, which is of interest to me. Teach us the basics of mathematics, Croatian and foreign languages and the rest we will learn through life.
